LCRA EMPLOYEE'S UNITED CHARITIES

Thank you for your sponsorship and for attending our yearly event.  Justice is Served would not have been the same without your generosity and participation.

For many years, we have called on LCRA for assistance but this year, you are the Champions for CASA and we applaud you.  Each of you assisted an abused child, made their life more endurable and gave a light of hope to their future.

Our deepest appreciation is extended to each of you and the entire LCRA organization.

“JUSTICE IS SERVED” What A Night!

Each year, CASA of Bastrop hosts a benefit to assist in raising additional funds to connect additional volunteers with strong voices to speak up for abused and neglected children in the court systems of Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties. This year's event was held on May 2nd, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. The event is justly named Justice is Served which explains why the wait staff serving champagne were Attorneys, Bryan McDaniel and Hodgson Eckel, who work the civil court system along with Kathy Holton an Assistant District Attorney for Bryan Goertz.  Many attorney’s, county and city officials attended in support of the strong volunteer voice CASA brings into his courtroom to benefit the children of the three counties.

Over 200 people enjoyed the beauty of  The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and an evening of pure fun. There were many special guests but none as prevalent as LCRA Employee’s United Charities.  As a sponsor, supporter and with their robust attendance, the evening was even more special.  The J. Irwin Company and Bluebonnet Electric were equally enjoying the event as sponsors and participants.

The guest speaker and a Foster/Adoptive Parent held everyone’s attention as he spoke eloquently of CASA and their role within the community.  The Board and Staff of CASA appreciate all who attended and joined the excitement of the auction and later the Casino Night.

Lane Lott auctioned many items including an elk hunt, dove and quail hunts, a week in Colorado, a night in the Governor’s Suite with a private chef and a girl’s night out package at the Magnolia Inn.

After a champagne reception and a 5 course meal, casino night opened and the guests “rolled the dice to help a child become a winner”.  Laughter and cheers were abundant as guest played their games for the benefit of the children and then waited to see who would win the prizes at the close of the evening.

The Executive Director of CASA of Bastrop, Lee and Fayette Counties, Joan Martin-Thurman along with the Program Director, Amanda Homesley felt this year’s event was exceptional.  This event will assist with funding for children of abuse or neglect. These victimized children are drawn into an overburdened child welfare system that is hard pressed to address their individual concerns. Eventually, they end up in court. CASA is a nonprofit partnership that trains and supports volunteers to work with and speak up for these children, making strong recommendations as they journey toward safe, loving, permanent homes.

CASA holds 3rd Annual casas for CASA

                                       Benefiting CASA of Bastrop, Inc.

Casas for CASA is a fundraising event that will benefit CASA of Bastrop, Inc.  Casas for CASA is a playhouse raffle that will consist of two playhouses.  Our theme this year is education, “The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you. ~ B. B. King”   Our two playhouses  represent education and it’s importance in the community.  The Bastrop High School’s Building Trades classes, taught by Danny Hamilton is building the “little red school house”   The Art Department and Agricultural Department also contributed to the project.  Thanks to Monica Cooke of Lowe’s, CASA was awarded a Lowe’s Hero Project award to cover $1,200.00 of the building materials of the school house.  Dennis Randolph, owner of Strong Events in Austin is building the “library” playhouse which is very unique and a one of a kind.  Mr. Randolph has kindly donated all materials and labor for this playhouse.  First National Bank has once again kindly allowed us display area in front of the bank and will also be selling tickets inside of the bank.

Mr. Hamilton feels that this is a good project for B.I.S.D and his students.  The students have taken an active role in the event for the last two years and are doing so, once again.

Dennis Randolph said, “I am thrilled to be able to give back in a creative way to help children in Bastrop, Lee and Fayette Counties”.  He also said, “It’s exciting to help the children that CASA serves in cities that may not have a large financial contributing base.”  Mr. Randolph’s receptionist of 13 years is a resident of Bastrop and said “he can make anything, you give him a picture and he can do it.  Many hands have gone into this project and all felt that they were proud to do something so special for such a worthy cause.

Tickets for the raffle are $5.00 for one ticket or $20.00 for a group of 5 tickets.  The winners of the raffle will be announced during the Lighted Christmas Parade December 12th..  The tickets will be drawn by the board members just prior to the start of the parade, winners need not be present at the parade to win.  CASA of Bastrop will notify each winner following the parade on the next business day.  The playhouses are displayed in front of the First National Bank’s Highway 71 Branch and Bastrop Starbuck’s.  Tickets are available for purchase now.

Tickets will be available to purchase up to 1:00 p.m. the day of the drawing,  December 12th.

Playhouses will be delivered within a 30 mile radius of Downtown Bastrop.  If the winner lives further than 20 miles they will be responsible for pick-up and delivery to the final destination.
